Giving Our Children to God
I Samuel 1:26-28 |
"Pardon me, my Lord. As surely as you live, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the Lord. I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord."
- Confirmation - Giving a child to the Lord is a confirmation of parents love for God, as well as their love for the child.
- Clarification - Giving a child to the Lord is a clarification of ownership. Parents have the privilege to train and love the child, but the child belongs to the Lord.
- Commitment - Giving a child to the Lord is a commitment to rear the child under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
- Claiming - Giving a child to the Lord is a claiming of God's plan and promise for the child.
We recognize this morning a covenant between the Lord Jesus Christ, Cody and Shelby to rear Louis Button "L B" in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. As friends and family, we pledge ourselves to their trust to be proper examples of Christian conduct to "L B". As First Mabelvale, we pledge to assist Cody and Shelby, teaching and nurturing "L B" in the ways of the Lord.
