On the Wings of a Dove

Psalm 55:6-8 |

"Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. I would flee far away and stay in the desert. I would hurry to my place of shelter, fa r from the tempest and storm."

King David was broken in heart, battered in spirit. He longed to be at peace like a dove in some safe nest a hideaway in the hills. Most of us have been where David was in this psalm, hard pressed by circumstances, partly our own fault and eventually beyond our control. Is there a place of shelter, far from the storms of our lives? Yes, there is! It is the place where the Holy Spirit lives, the heavenly dove of God's presence.

"On the wings of a snow-white dove He sends His pure sweet love. A sign from above on the wings of a dove."
